Dons loanees on target in nap-hand win

-

Having comfortably seen off third-bottom Strathspey Thistle in midweek, Formartine thumped second-bottom Turriff United yesterday.

Scott Lisle knocked the North Lodge side in front with 16 minutes on the clock and, soon after, Ryan Spink converted to double their lead as he turned the ball past David Dey.

Young Aberdeen loanee Kevin Hanratty added his name to the scoresheet halfway through the second half and he was soon joined by his Dons team-mate Tyler Mykyta. Johnny Smith netted No. 5 from a penalty.

FORT WILLIAM 0 LOSSIEMOUTH 2

In a match played at Grant Park, Lossiemouth moved to within one win of the top half of the table thanks to a narrow victory over Fort William.

The defeat leaves the Lochaber side firmly rooted to the bottom of the table.

The Coasters were awarded a spot-kick as a frustrating first half drew to a close and Ryan Sewell duly took advantage of the opportunity to put them in front.

The writing was on the wall for The Fort when Brodie Allan doubled Lossie’s lead 17 minutes into the second half, but they avoided any further collapse.

ROTHES 3 DEVERONVALE 0

Deveronvale battled well in the opening half, but the determined running of Fraser Robertson from the left of midfield paid off when he beat Sean Mcintosh early in the second half.

The impish Jack Brown found space to fire in the second.

As more spaces began to open up, there was no surprise when the youngster added his second.

HUNTLY 0 BUCKIE 2

Buckie striker Marcus Goodall helped Huntly to a strong start to the season during a brief loan spell, but he showed his former team-mates no sympathy on his return to Christie Park.

Goodall played the ball perfectly into the path of Andy Macaskill, who calmly stroked the Jags into a half-time lead.

Then, on 70 minutes, Macaskill returned the favour when he took advantage of a quick throw-in down the line to deliver a pinpoint cross for Goodall to net No. 2.

WICK 1 BRECHIN CITY 3

The half-time introduction of Marc Scott proved to be an inspirational switch for Brechin as,100 seconds after entering the fray, he ran through the channel to slot home the opener.

Wick were still reeling when Hamish Thomson delivered what was to be a killer blow, heading home the second soon after.

A stramash following a Scorries corner was ended when David Allan drilled home for the hosts.

Wick went hunting for the leveller, but Scott secured City’s win with a second in added time.

FRASERBURGH 7 KEITH 0

Fraserburgh’s Barbour ran on to a Logan Watt pass to fire the ball across the Keith keeper and into the corner of the net for the only goal of the first half.

A minute into the second period, Watt’s corner was headed on to the post by Willie West, only for Bryan Hay to knock in No. 2.

Barbour grabbed his second from close range just after the hour, set up by Gary Harris.

Keith missed a penalty before a Paul Young double with his feet and a Sean Butcher double with his head rubbed further salt into the Maroons wounds late on.

STRATHSPEY 2 NAIRN 1

Dumped out of the Scottish Cup 4-0 by Nairn last month, Strathspey were seeking revenge and they looked on course to get it when Craig Mackenzie gave them an 18th-minute lead.

The predatory instincts of Connor Gethins saw Nairn square things up in the 66th minute when he nodded home from close range after a Scott Davidson free-kick was tipped on to the crossbar.

Then, two minutes into timeadded, Dylan Mackenzie grabbed a sensational winner to sink Charlie Brown’s men.

INVERURIE 2 FORRES 2

Inverurie took the lead in only two minutes. Calum Dingwall curled a sweet free-kick into the box for

Ryan Broadhurst, whose flicked header beat Stuart Knight at his left post.

Robert Ward fired the ball against the arm of Owen Paterson and Kieran Shanks netted from 12 yards in the 29th minute.

The Can Cans were back in the game four minutes later when Thomas Brady crossed from the left and Paul Brindle beat Andy Reid with a close-range header.

On 49 minutes, the visitors equalised as Brindle grabbed his second. The former Brora marksman held off two opponents before firing firmly past Reid.

CLACHNACUDDIN 0 BRORA RANGERS 4

Brora Rangers were looking to build on an impressive midweek win over Rothes when they travelled to Inverness.

A coolly-taken goal by Adam Mackinnon was supported by a low Gregor Macdonald counter just before half-time as the Cattachs took charge.

There was to be no way back for the Lilywhites after former ICT youngster Andy Macrae scored a third with a right-foot finish.

Ally Macdonald completed the scoring, moving Brora to within one point off second spot.
