Kt insists he will be fighting fit for world Cup crunch tie
Kieran Tierney has reassured Scotland boss Steve Clarke he should be fighting fit to face Moldova.
The £25-million defender sparked fears he could miss the country’s crucial World Cup qualifier on November 12 through his absence from Arsenal’s game against Aston Villa on Friday night.
Concerns were intensified when Gunners manager, Mikel Arteta, explained his star had an injury issue.
However, the player himself has been quick to report back north of the border that it is a very minor problem.
“Kieran has a bruising on his ankle. He could probably have played against Villa, but decided not to risk it,” said a source close to the 24-year-old.
“He has had people in touch with him, and has reassured them that missing the Moldova game isn’t a concern at all.
“In fact, he could well be back in action for Arsenal before the squad is named.”
Clarke is expected to pick his men for the trip to Chisinau on Tuesday week, with Tierney expected to add to his 28 international caps.
On Saturday, Arsenal take on Leicester City – managed by Tierney’s former Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers – and the full-back is expected to appear at the King Power Stadium.
