Oh, natural! Long-lasting lips without the nasty chemicals

-

Natural beauty is definitely on its way back in. With household names such as Molly-mae Hague and Kylie Jenner dissolving their fillers and more and more choosing to opt for the natural look, this trend is here to stay.

We’ve seen the movement soar across social media, and with it comes a rise in demand for the natural look at make-up counters. In particular, creating a natural lip is one of the simplest yet most effective ways of competing a long-lasting look that can take you from day to night.

Here, Charlotte Holdsworth, founder of LABED, which aims to bridge the gap between beauty and aesthetic lip fillers by creating lip-enhancing products that are a natural alternative with long-lasting results, gives us her top tips on how to perfect the natural lip.

Scrub up

“Start by stimulating the lip, using ways to bring blood to the surface and creating warmth which gives a gorgeous, plumping effect and a beautiful natural tint,” said Charlotte.

“We recommend using a lip scrub before applying any lip products.this removes dead skin and moisturises, leaving the lips smooth, plumped with a natural pinky tint.

“For those who are seeking to use more sustainable products, make your own lip scrub by mixing 2tbs of brown sugar, 1tbs organic coconut oil and 1tbs of organic honey. Store in a small glass jar. It can be fun to add natural ingredients to your lip scrub such as peppermint oil, cocoa and vanilla extract.”

Plump it up

Charlotte says using a lip liner that is just slightly darker than your natural lip colour is a great way to create definition and give an illusion that your lips are slightly more plumped than they naturally are.

“When applying the lip liner, do not use too much pressure and make sure to slightly blend out any harsh lines using your middle finger,” she said.

Charlotte recommends Doll Beauty’s Boy Bye Liner (£8.50).

Gloss over

“We love to use a tingle lip

balm or lip gloss. Depending on how much tingle and plumpness you want to experience will depend on the product ingredients,” said Charlotte.

“Using a product with a plumping agent, such as mint, offers a subtle fresh feeling and minimal plump.

“Plumping glosses with capsaicin, which is chilli extract or ginger oil, will be a much stronger tingle – more of a warming and hot sensation – but will leave your lips super-plumped.”

Charlotte recommends LABED’S Lip Injection Gloss (£17.99).
