LOVE THE OUTDOORS

Wrap up warm and savour all Scotland has to offer this autumn because we are spoilt for choice when it comes to the great outdoors

-

Spending time outdoors is an excellent remedy for all sorts of things. From curing boredom and improving your mood, to reducing feelings of stress and anger and improving your physical health, being immersed in nature is just generally good for the soul!

And, in Scotland, we’re really spoilt for choice when it comes to the outdoors – autumn and winter included!

Yes, the weather may be wetter, windier or even a tad icy, but let’s be honest

– the Scottish weather is always unpredictable, regardless of the time of year. Dress the part (lots of layers, for example) and you can still take advantage of the beautiful scenery.

The countryside is stunning, particularly in autumn. Traipsing through crunchy leaves, breathing in the fresh and crisp cold air, watching golds and coppers fall from surrounding trees – there’s lots to admire in the Scottish outdoors as the summer months fade.

Plus, there’s nothing quite as satisfying as wrapping up in your best scarf and hat, returning rosy-cheeked and half-frozen to warm up indoors with a hot chocolate or comforting, carb-heavy meal.

And one of the best ways to explore Scotland in autumn is by observing it on foot. Indeed, walking is extremely beneficial, both physically and mentally, and allows you to take in your surroundings at a leisurely pace.

From wildlife such as birds of prey, deer, squirrels and more, to stunning landscapes and an array of plant life, there is so much to see in Scotland’s natural world.

Plus, according to bupa.co.uk, walking can increase your cardiovascular fitness, boost your energy, and help to reduce stress and anxiety, whether you speed walk, hike or enjoy a gentle stroll.

So, the question is, where to go? Well, it all depends on where you live and how far you’re willing to travel. From the likes of the Hermitage and Loch Tummel in Perthshire, to Loch Lomond and Loch Fyne in Argyll, and the famous West Highland Way, there are lots of places and stunning views waiting for you to discover.

Don’t hesitate – wrap up warm and soak in the scenery this autumn!
