Specs-tacular! The eyes have it with these fab make-up tips

- By Tracey Bryce

If you wear glasses, you will understand the annoyance when your make-up smudges on your frames. On top of that, wearing specs can mean the eye make-up you spent hours perfecting can get lost behind the lens.

With your glasses as the focal point, you may also feel as though you can’t use make-up to accentuate other facial features without looking overdone, but this doesn’t have to be the case.

Make-up artist, Lucy Roberts of Falseeyelashes.co.uk, has some brilliant tips and tricks for spec wearers.

Choose a light foundation

The dents, red marks, and scuffs that the nose pads and bridge of your glasses leave behind are obvious, but the thicker you layer on your foundation, the more noticeable the indents will be. A simple solution is to apply a thin layer of foundation, blending from your nose outwards to your cheeks.then, use concealer to pinpoint any areas that need extra coverage – typically around the nose, underneath the eyes, and any acne or discolouration.

Consider your eyebrows

If you wear larger, bold frames that cover your eyebrows, too much grooming isn’t needed. Keep it simple by using an eyebrow pencil to fill in any gaps and set with brow gel to stop your glasses moving your brow hairs underneath. If you have a thinner and more delicate glasses frames then your brows will be emphasised, so more grooming is necessary. Ensure your eyebrow arch is correctly shaped and proportioned by a professional, so that your brows will match your glasses. Then maintain your brows by filling any sparse areas in with an eyebrow pencil and highlighting the brow bone with a matte skin tone shade.

Prioritise curl over length

There is nothing more frustrating than when your mascara smudges on to your frames when you blink.to avoid this, prioritise curl over length. Simply use an eyelash curler to lift your lashes, and switch to a waterproof mascara to ensure the formula won’t

budge and smear throughout the day. If you want an extra impactful make-up look, opt for accent lashes which can be applied to the outer corner of your lashes, without being restricted by your lenses.

Clever eyeliner

Your lenses magnify your eyeliner and make you look bug-eyed, so the best trick is to apply a dark liner to your water line and smoke it out. If your glasses make your eyes look smaller, apply a nude liner to the water line instead. Experiment with colours to make your eyes pop.
