Prince William ‘grieves loss of relationship with his brother’

-

Prince William is “mourning” his relationship with his younger brother Harry, royal sources claimed yesterday.

The prince, who will celebrate his 40th birthday on Tuesday, is said to be “grieving” and “really, really angry” after Harry and his wife Megan walked away from royal life and moved to the US.

The couple’s decision has prompted ill-will and, reportedly, a widening rift between the brothers, who were once close. One source told the Daily Mail: “William alternates between grieving for what he has lost and feeling really, really angry about what his brother has done. He truly loves Harry and feels he has lost the only person, aside from his wife, who understood this strange life of theirs. But he believes there are things you just don’t do. And Harry has 100% crossed that line.”

Meanwhile, another source claimed William decided against inviting Harry to his birthday celebrations. A source told Heat magazine: “The feeling is that, even if Harry and Meghan decided to come to William’s celebration, and that is a big if, their presence would bring a whole fresh set of problems, and nobody wants that. The sad truth is that William barely recognises, let alone relates to, his younger brother any more.”

Asked whether the brothers’ relationship will ever improve: “That’s a hard question to answer. The truth is they have got to find some common ground again at some point. But William is also very principled and believes Harry has crossed a line.”

Tensions are said to have started in March 2019 when William asked Harry and his wife Meghan to move out of Kensington Palace, with the Sussexes retaliating by breaking up their joint foundation and setting up an office at Buckingham Palace. Their relationship worsened considerably after Harry and Meghan accused the royal family of racism in their interview with Oprah Winfrey, and abandoning them when Meghan was suicidal.

The brothers did not spend any private time together whilst the Sussexes were in the UK attending Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
