Miller is Kilby match-winner – and their saviour

EAST KILBRIDE moved three points clear after a narrow 1-0 win over CUMBERNAUL­D COLTS, but they scorned many chances.

Kyle Munro came close for Kilby on 25 minutes with a curling shot from 20 yards which skimmed the bar and, two minutes later, Ronan Hughes rattled the crossbar. Eight minutes into the second half, Neil Mclaughlin saw his penalty saved by the Colts keeper. Then, on 65 minutes, Gary Miller headed home the winner from a corner, then, in the last minute, Miller also came to the rescue when he headed a ball off the line.

GRETNA 2008’s new management team of Michael Mcindoe and his assistant Robbie Park got off to a winning start with a 3-0 win over local rivals DALBEATTIE STAR in the local derby. The win moved them up a place from second bottom and doubled their points total to six. Lewis Bell, sub Michael Mbewe and Rhys Caves were their scorers.

Martin Maughan and Ben Miller sealed the points with the Fifers going down to 10 men late on when Danny Farrell was shown a red card.

In the university battle, STIRLING UNI went nap with a 5-0 win over EDINBURGH UNI. They went three up in the first half through Calum Rae (2) and James Stokes. Two subs, Cammy Mckinley and Buronbek Mirzasalim­ov, added two more in the second half.
