Sons anything but Rock solid as Binos hit 6

-

In-form STIRLING ALBION hit leaders DUMBARTON for six to close the gap at the top to two points with a fourth straight win.

The Sons Of The Rock had conceded just six goals in their first nine matches, but shipped the same number here, while Stirling have now netted 16 times in their past four games. Robert Thomson opened for the Binos with a superb 20-yarder and it was 2-0 soon after when skipper Paul Mclean headed home. Top scorer Dale Carrick and right-back Ross Mcgeachie made it 4-0 at the break. Kyle Banner hit a double in the second half.

ALBION ROVERS claimed a much-needed win against 10-man BONNYRIGG ROSE to move off the bottom. Luke Graham scored for Albion from close range and, just on the break, Charlie Reilly made it 2-0 from the spot. Lee Currie pulled a goal back with a stunning left-foot strike from a free-kick, then saw his team-mate Bradley Barrett was sent off for a second yellow card late on.

STENHOUSEMUIR drew 2-2 with visitors ANNAN ATHLETIC. Annan led on 11 minutes through Tommy Goss, then Stenny manager Stephen Swift was sent to the stand on 20 minutes. Referee Alastair Grieve produced another red card in the 32nd minute to Annan’s Tommy Muir after a dreadful tackle on Matty Yates. In the 80th minute, Stenhousemuir captain Sean Crighton stroked the equaliser home, then he headed in a cross with two minutes left to level. Tommy Goss, however, drilled in the equaliser in the 90th minute.

Managerless EAST FIFE won 3-1 at FORFAR. Two goals for the visitors just before the interval from Ryan Schiavone and Alex Ferguson put them 2-0 up, with Mark Docherty then scoring an own goal to make it 3-0. Kevin Hanratty, on loan from Aberdeen, pulled one back for Forfar.

Darryl Mchardy’s second-half volley gave ELGIN CITY a 3-2 win in an entertaining clash at STRANRAER. Kane Hester hit City’s first two before Stranraer levelled through a Paul Woods penalty and a Dean Hawkshaw 18-yarder. Stranraer’s Craig Ross was sent off for a second booking late on.
