when they took the lead in six minutes. Jamieson failed to deal with a corner from Kieran Macdonald and the ball landed at the feet of Danny Handling, who steered it home from close range.

Kelty came to life as half-time approached and almost equalised when Nathan Austin found himself with only Robbie Mutch to beat, but the striker’s shot clipped Mutch’s left post.

Callum Crane put the result beyond doubt on 70 minutes, firing past Jamieson from an Innes Murray cross.

CLYDE 1 MONTROSE 3

It took 14 minutes before either keeper was called into action, Aaron Lennox comfortably saving home striker Ross Cunningham’s shot.

The visitors stirred before the break, with Michael Gardyne seeing his 20-yard shot rebound off the bar.

Montrose threatened again, Ryan Mullen saving efforts from Matthew Wright and Cammy Ballantyne in quick succession.

But it was the Bully Wee who broke the deadlock on the restart, Jordan Allan meeting Cunningham’s cross with a decisive finish.

Cunningham almost extended the lead moments later, but his shot was turned behind by Lennox. At the other end, Wright sent a shot just wide before Clyde suffered a huge blow when Liam Scullion was red-carded for a foul on Blair Lyons.

Montrose made the extra man count immediately when Wright sent an angled shot high into the net. And they were ahead five minutes later when Rory Mcallister sent a low shot in off the post.

Lyons rubbed salt in Clyde’s wounds, firing in a third on 80 minutes.

PETERHEAD 0 FALKIRK 4

Falkirk dominated proceedings from the off and Burrell should have put them ahead, but, somehow, from two yards, miscued and allowed Brown to clear.

Ritchie then produced a great diving save from the Falkirk forward as they continued to apply the pressure.

Peterhead’s only effort of note in the first half was a Brown header from a Dow corner which was cleared off the line.

Falkirk then went up the park and, after a neat passing movement, Nesbitt fed Morrison who finished easily from 10 yards to give Falkirk a deserved half-time lead.

The visitors continued to dominate and went two up when substitute Alegria headed home from a Kennedy cross.

Kennedy then played an integral role for the third when his driving effort from 25 yards came back off the bar and, unfortunately, hit the back of the diving Ritchie and rolled agonisingly into the net.

The Bairns added a fourth to make it a comprehensive win when Henderson headed home a Nesbitt corner.
