Head coach Billy Dodds insisted there is no problem between him and goalkeeper Mark Ridgers after he was dropped in favour of Cammy Mackay for their 1-1 draw against Arbroath yesterday.

Ridgers, who was substituted at half-time in their 4-0 defeat to Greenock Morton the previous weekend, was dropped to the bench in favour of Mackay.

Dodds says Ridgers accepted the decision and that he is fortunate to have two keepers good enough to start in the first team.

“Mark has made a couple of errors but he has been good to me, I am blessed to have two good goalkeepers,” said Dodds.

“This is not the Cammy Mackay at 21 when he wasn’t putting enough pressure on Mark.

“This is the Cammy Mackay who has turned out to be a top goalkeeper.

“Some people look in from the outside and make up stories.

“Mark and I had a chat on Monday, told him what I was thinking and he had no problem.

“He was great by being a big support to Cammy.

“He accepted the decision brilliantly and now we move on. Cammy has the jersey just now and I want competition.”

Caley Thistle’s winless run in the Championship has extended to four matches as Arbroath came from behind to rescue a point.

Inverness broke the deadlock eight minutes into the second half when Nathan Shaw managed to get on to the end of a Billy Mckay flick on from a cross.

The Englishman managed to get on the ball at the right post to fire home from close range.

But the Lichties levelled eight minutes later when Kieran Shanks pounced on a header from David Carson back into his own box and fired a low drive past Mackay.

The result moved Arbroath off the bottom of the table to the delight of manager Dick Campbell.

“People may have started to ask questions about my team but that answers them as they were magnificent in the second half,” he said.

“Don’t be kidded about Inverness, they will be there at the end of the season.

“I am absolutely delighted with the workrate and attitude of the players, but I am delighted with a point and we are off the bottom of the league.

“Billy might say he has eight players missing, I have six. Four of those six could play for any team in this league.”
