Pull on your PJS and fluffy slippers. It’s snuggling season again
It’s that time of year when we quietly slip into hibernation mode. In our house it starts with the first bars of the Strictly theme tune and ends somewhere near the end of February (depending on the weather).
During this period of snuggling, it’s perfectly acceptable to loaf around in slippers and pull on your PJS every evening, before you’ve had your dinner. But here at P.S., we like to keep up appearances, even when we’re lazing on the sofa in front of a box set with a box of chocolates. Thankfully, trends such as “hygge”, the Scandinavian aesthetic of cosy charm, has elevated loungewear way above tatty grey joggies and faded T-shirts. Pyjamas are having a fashion moment, too, and with so many to choose from we’ve asked P.S. style expert Wendy Rigg to recommend her favourites. Turn to pages 8 and 9 for the prettiest PJS, toasty cashmere socks and fluffy slippers (and not an oodie in sight).
Speaking of hibernation, on pages 44 and 45, gardening guru Agnes Stevenson meets a heritage gardener who is preparing his castle grounds for winter, and she has a warning about sleeping hedgehogs...
Someone who has found a much better way of evading the miserable weather is cover star Sharon Young. The actress called us from her sunshine honeymoon this week to tell us about the second series of The Scotts. On pages 6 and 7, she talks about being a late bloomer, hitting her career stride in her 30s and why she’s decided to write her own script.
So, all that’s left to do is put the kettle on, and curl up with a cuppa and your Sunday Post. Enjoy the issue.
