Price freeze makes protecting your property both sensible and affordable

Act now to save your home from care fees

- WORDS LAURA COVENTRY

If you haven’t put plans in place to protect your home, your assets or your children’s future, then do so by the end of the year – as it has never been more affordable to make arrangements.

That’s because, unlike many other businesses, there is one estate planning firm that is keeping costs affordable, by implementing a price freeze but only until the end of the year.that company is ILAWS, and they continue to arrange Wills and Power of Attorneys for clients at a reduced rate.

So, if you are putting off arranging these two essential documents until 2023, it is advisable not to.there are many reasons for this – and it is not all down to price – as Tony Marchi, principal at ILAWS, explained.

“With our simple Wills for only £48 and Power of Attorney for the specially-discounted rate of £192, there is no better time to secure your future, or that of your family.

“However, besides arranging a Will and a Power of Attorney, you should also consider a trust or a transfer if you have a property, as this could prevent it from being sold to pay for your care home fees.”

ILAWS invites you to give them a call to discuss all options when it comes to planning for the future, as they can put arrangements in place that will see your wishes carried out while you are still here, and when you aren’t.and, today’s prices will be honoured for those who book an appointment and ILAWS can see them before Xmas, so “don’t leave it too late to book your appointment as spaces are going fast,” insists Tony.“set things up before the probable price increase at the beginning of the year.”

Over the years, tony and the team have helped hundreds of clients pass on their properties, estates and savings to the people they love most – and they can do the same for you.

Don’t leave it too late in life to organise your Will and Power of Attorney (see the Case Study opposite) as it can cause many problems and much stress for those you leave behind. If you own a property, even if it is still mortgaged (if you are a couple), then you should consider your options for protecting it should one or both of you need to go into a care home.

“There are legitimate ways of preventing the local authority from selling your home to pay for care,” explained Tony, and he wants to educate people about this before it is too late. Every week, tony and the team are contacted by distraught families who have left it too late to protect their home, and within a few short years, all the money tied up in it is lost to care home fees that can amount to £1,500-a-week for nursing care and more than £1,000-a-week for residential care.

We asked Tony what the ideal age to write a Will is.

He advised:“if you have any assets, either savings or a property, then you should write a Will to ensure those assets pass to whom you wish. Really most of us know we should do

this but tend to put if off because of the hassle.this is where we come in because we cannot make it easier or more stress free than we do.

“If you have an older Will in place, it is always worth re-visiting your wishes and updating the document as a more modern document may suit you better.”

You can arrange an appointment in one of ILAWS’ offices in your local area, or they can visit you in your own home and organise your assets. Those who arrange appointments often speak of the peace of mind they feel afterwards.
