Restaurant of the week
349 Pizzeria Cafe Main St, Bellshill
Location
Right in the town centre, the restaurant can be easily reached by public transport. There is also parking nearby.
First impressions
A huge pizza oven takes centre stage in this small, yet perfectly formed restaurant. It’s cosy and clean and very welcoming from the outset.
Service
We are greeted by a lovely waiter who explains the menu and has a laugh and joke with the kids. Service is prompt and with a smile.
Menu
There’s pleny of variety on the menu, from the classics like margherita and pepperoni to topping combinations a little more out there such as lemon prawns and spiced mince lamb meat, but it is quite small. The idea is that the menu will change every so often. The good news is that you can mix and match the toppings that are on there so you should be able to find a combination you like. Pizzas are freshly cooked to order. Sadly there is no children’s menu – they just have to share an adult portion.
Taste
We plump for the chicken tikka chilli and chive and pepperoni – and both, which arrive straight from the pizza oven, are baked to perfection. The little ones love their margherita. The piece de resistance is the handmade chips – tossed in salt and black pepper – and homemade garlic and mayo dip on the side.
Ambience
We’re the only table when we arrive but soon its a busy, bustling service. Nevertheless we feel relaxed and well attended to. It’s a lovely, chilled atmosphere.
Price
With the bill coming in at just £58 for four including soft drinks, this was pizza perfection for a bargain price.
