Binos beaten as brilliant Blues hit form

-

STRANRAER delivered a setback to STIRLING ALBION’S title bid with a come-from-behind 3-1 victory.

Stirling started well and Robert Thomson headed them in front from Danny Denholm’s cross. The hosts levelled on 31 minutes when Dylan Forrest fired home. Four minutes from the break, Sean Mcintosh put the Blues in front from close range when he scored with a right-foot shot. Grant Gallagher killed them off with a third goal after 61 minutes, thrashing home from close in.

BONNYRIGG ROSE and visiting DUMBARTON drew 1-1. The hosts got the breakthrough from a penalty just on half-time when Bradley Barrett was brought down by keeper Brett Long and Neil Martyniuk converted from the spot. On the hour, a cross from the right from Sons’ sub Edin Lynch was dropped by the Rose keeper, the ball hitting Josh Grigor and into the net.

Ray Mckinnon sealed his first win as FORFAR manager with a narrow 1-0 victory at home to ALBION ROVERS. The only goal came on 33 minutes, Ben Armour the beneficiary after a free-kick pinballed around the away box. The win sees Forfar move on to level points at the bottom.

ANNAN ATHLETIC were impressive in their 3-1 win at EAST FIFE. Tony Wallace opened the scoring for Annan with an alltoo-easy passage of play, going 1-0 up in the first 10 minutes. Annan had the chance to double their advantage, but Fleming saved Tommy Goss’ penalty. Fife equalised in the 41st minute, Sam Denham scoring his first for East Fife. Goss recovered the Galabankies’ lead shortly after half-time, and the lead was then stretched as Tony Wallace bagged his second of the afternoon with 10 minutes still to play.

Hosts ELGIN won 2-1 against STENHOUSEMUIR. Russell Dingwall netted his 12th of the season with a first-time strike from 18 yards. Stenny’s Thomas Orr teed up Will Sewell for a firm strike past keeper Tom Mchale five minutes before the break, then hit the winner when Kane Hester smashed home a close-range volley – his 22nd goal of the campaign.
