Kelty firmly in charge to disappoint Davie

-

DUNFERMLINE 1 QOS 1

Dunfermline saw their lead at the top of League 1 cut to five points, but the Pars were relieved to maintain their unbeaten home record.

Following four wins in their previous six league games, the Dumfries club more than matched the Fifers in every department to suggest that they are well capable of challenging for promotion after being relegated last season.

Both teams had gone close before Ruari Paton fired the visitors in front at the end of the first half.

Paul Mckay’s header almost made it 2-0 early in the second period, but Dunfermline then hit their stride and began peppering the Queens goal.

Sub Nikolay Todorov headed them level midway through the half and, although the same player shot inches wide in stoppage-time, the visitors also had plenty of chances in an entertaining last 20 minutes.

FALKIRK 1 AIRDRIEONIANS 1

The visitors threatened three times in the opening 10 minutes, but Callum Smith was unable to make his early efforts break the deadlock.

On 19 minutes, Coll Donaldson’s 20-yard free-kick was turned away by keeper Dean Lyness, but he was beaten on 26 minutes after Kai Kennedy sent an angled volley into the net for the opener.

Rumarn Burrell went close in 34 minutes, heading Callumn Morrison’s cross from the right against the side-netting.

Airdrie enjoyed the first quarter-ofan-hour after the restart, with Calum Gallagher unable to control the ball inside the box as the visitors looked threatening.

In 58 minutes, Cammy Ballantyne’s good run on the right was followed up with a net-bound shot inside the box, but it was deflected over.

With 79 minutes played, the Diamonds deservedly equalised after Gabby Mcgill and Gallagher combined to set up Smith to score from inside the box.

MONTROSE 0 ALLOA 0

After 11 minutes, Stefan Scougall had a good chance for the visitors, but shot straight at Ross Sinclair.

At the other end, Rory Mcallister headed a cross from Graham Webster just over on 23 minutes, before Craig Brown might have put the home side ahead, but his shot from a narrow angle finished in the side netting.

It was end-to-end play and, on the stroke of half-time, Alloa’s Conor Sammon headed over from a good position inside the box.

With five minutes of regulation time left, Stefan Scougall might have secured the points for The Wasps, but his 25-yard effort was well saved by Sinclair.

In time added, Alloa substitute Kieran Offord went down in the box, but referee Grant Irvine waved away penalty claims before booking the player for simulation.
