Are Alfredo’s days at Ibrox now numbered under Michael?

-

Many players have been linked with Rangers in the past few days.

For sure, the work to improve Michael Beale’s squad will be well under way.

As we all know, they need to find better quality to give them a chance of catching up with Celtic, although I can’t see that happening this season.

I’m not privy to the dynamics of how transfers work at Ibrox between the director of football, Ross Wilson, and the manager.

Who picks the players, and who has the final say?

But I do know that Michael has excellent contacts in the game, and he’ll be able to identify some really good talent.

What would happen after that is up to the hierarchy.

They may well be looking to replace

Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos next month, as it appears the club’s contract offer has been rejected by the players.

These things happen, and players coming and going is all part-and-parcel of life at a football club.

The secret is to maximise your talent when they are at their peak, and get top dollar.

It looks unlikely that’s going to happen with Ryan and Alfredo.

That was what came out of the club’s AGM last week. Let’s see how it all unfolds in the weeks ahead.

St Johnstone also had their AGM, and Geoff Brown announced he was selling up and donating the net proceeds to the club’s Community Trust.

That is a fantastic gesture, and credit to him. He’s been there for nearly 40 years, a local businessman who was in the fortunate position of being able to help the club he supported.

But the time comes when you feel you need to move on, and the Brown family have decided it is now.

They should be applauded for their considerable contribution, and putting Saints on a solid financial footing.

Geoff now aims to leave behind a legacy, and I’m sure he’ll also only sell to someone with St Johnstone’s best interests at heart.
