FALKIRK 2 KELTY 1

Ross Maciver headed a late winner as Falkirk joined Hamilton at the top.

Falkirk had an early chance – Leon Mccann releasing Calvin Miller, who returned his pass. But Mccann’s shot was well saved by Kyle Gourlay.

The home fans thought they should have had a penalty when Maciver went down in the box but he was booked for simulation.

The breakthrough came four minutes from the break when Aidan Nesbitt was given too much space in the area and he took full advantage, slotting past Gourlay.

Craig Johnston almost snatched an equaliser after an hour but his right-foot shot from 10 yards slipped wide.

Falkirk did not heed the warning and Alfie Bavidge levelled the scores when he netted with a tap-in after good work by Jamie Walker.

Tom Lang came close at the other end when he got on the end of a Nesbitt cross but headed over.

Maciver headed the winner with 14 minutes left after a cross from Finn Yeats.

ALLOA 0 HAMILTON 0

Alloa frustrated leaders Hamilton as they held off a late onslaught for a deserved point.

The hosts had an early scare when Dario Zanatta hit the bar and Scott Martin swiped the loose ball wide.

Alloa hit back and Bobby Wales was not far away with a 15-yard shot.

Zanatta had an opportunity on the stroke of half-time but could not direct his header on target.

Alloa ‘keeper Peter Morrison was called into action early in the second half but comfortably held Martin’s shot.

Kevin O’hara came close with a 20-yard shot for Hamilton with 10 minutes left, Morrison glad to see the effort finish wide.

O’hara was then denied by Morrison, the goalkeeper getting down quickly to save. Kyle Macdonald saw an effort hacked off the line in the closing stages as Alloa held on.

EDINBURGH CITY 1 STIRLING ALBION 3

Stirling had most of the play in the opening period in miserable conditions at Meadowbank Stadium but it was City who took the lead in 26 minutes after a mistake by keeper Blair Currie.

He sent a clearance straight to Robbie Mahon and the on-loan Motherwell winger sent a first time shot into the net for a superb finish from around 35 yards.

Darren Young’s men were level in 33 minutes when Robert Thomson took advantage of some poor defending and fired a low shot past on-loan Raith Rovers keeper Andy Mcneil.

The Binos went ahead in first-half stoppage time when the ball broke to Jack Leitch and he smashed a fine shot into the net from 12 yards.

Stirling made the game safe in 65 minutes when Josh Cooper, just on as a substitute, found the bottom corner with a free-kick from 20 yards.

The Binos were awarded a penalty in stoppage time but Dale Carrick’s kick was saved by Mcneil.

MONTROSE 1 Q0S 4

Lee Connelly opened the visitors’ account after just four minutes when he turned well in the box before beating Cammy Gill in the home goal. Connelly turned provider on 22 minutes when he outpaced Ryan Williamson and his cross from the byline was headed home by Alex Ferguson. On 34 minutes, Connelly’s free-kick rebound off the bar but Ferguson was on hand to head home.

With two minutes to go before half-time, Connelly scored the goal of the game, finding the net from 40 yards.

The Links Parkers finally got on the scoresheet in time added on when a Craig Brown free-kick eluded everyone to creep in at the right-hand post.

ANNAN 1 COVE 3

Rumarn Burrell was the hero with a hat-trick as Cove kept up the pressure at the top and the Galabank side stay struggling at the other end.

The visitors took the lead in the third minute when a Mark Reynolds ball was floated into the box and Burrell got his first with a close-range shot.

However, the visiting fans were silenced as the home side hit back two minutes later when Aiden Smith smashed the ball into the net to level.

In the 20th minute, Reynolds was fouled in the box by Matty Douglas but Mitch Megginson’s spot-kick smashed off the bar and was cleared.

In the 34th minute Burrell popped up again and put his side ahead after the ball was slipped through to him.

In the 77th minute Burrell completed his treble with a close-in shot.
