Far from the limit for this Sky

- By Reg Moore sport@sundaypost.com

IT seems claiming races are Toto Skyllachy’s grade now for David O’Meara.

However, there is an argument for saying he is competing below potential.

Today at Beverley he bids to follow up a Carlisle win at this level where, for the first time in three runs, he was presented with his favoured fast ground.

The same should apply this afternoon at the East Yorkshire track, where the son of Kyllachy is the top-rated runner in a field of low-achievers.

David Nolan takes the ride on the eight-year-old who, as recently as July, was running in Class 2 handicaps at York and Ascot — albeit down the field.

Kevin Stott has been one of the finds of the year and it’s no surprise Kevin Ryan puts the star apprentice on his fiveyear-old King Kurt.

Stott still claims 7l band that offsets a rise in the weights for King Kurt — who races off 75 and carries a welter burden of 10st— in a Class 5 handicap.

He has run well at this righthanded track before, and is nicely drawn in stall five to allow his young rider to strike for home early in the straight.

Jelly Fish goes into the extended-mile maiden with the benefit of a run at Lingfield, which hinted at enough promise to win a little event like this.

Amanda Perrett’s colt was quietly backed three weeks ago, and travelled well through the race, before losing out to Never To Be.
