Future looks Rosie for Russell’s ram

-

A REPLICA medieval battering ram gifted to a Scots charity by Hollywood star Russell Crowe has been put in place at its new home.

The £60,000 movie prop — which was used in the 49-yearold’s 2010 blockbuster Robin Hood — now takes pride of place at Duncarron Fort, a fully functioning facsimile of a medieval village, near Fintry, Stirlingshire.

Duncarron is run by The Clanranald Trust. Their chief executive Charlie Allan became friendly with Crowe (right) after appearing with him in Robin Hood and Gladiator.

After hearing plans for Duncarron, Crowe decided to arrange for the Trust to get the ram, which is known as Rosie, and paid for it to be shipped to Scotland.

Charlie said: “Now that we have the necessary security on site at Duncarron, we are very excited about Rosie’s arrival to her permanent home. She will be a big attraction at our events.”

The Clanranald Trust funds the medieval settlement — which is seen as an important educational resource — by providing warriors and organising fight scenes for film and television. Their services have been used in a number of prestigious productions, from Braveheart to hit series Game Of Thrones. Rosie is expected to be a star attraction at today’s War event at Duncarron, reenacting a medi

eval siege.
