Happy family?

Kylie and David finally welcome their new baby

- By Bill Gibb INTERVIEW

“IT’S been the longest pregnancy ever,” reckons Corrie star Paula Lane.

But Kylie’s baby finally arrives tomorrow night and Paula admits she couldn’t wait to get rid of the increasingly heavy baby bump.

So much so that on the happy day the scenes were shot a few weeks back, she took to Twitter to share the news.

“Well, what a day that was,” she told her 90,000 followers. “I’m pleased to announce baby Platt/Tilsley has arrived!”

Not being a mum herself, West Yorkshire lass Paula says she was a bit anxious, even though it wasn’t for real.

But Michelle Keegan, whose Tina gave birth in dramatic fashion just a few months back, was just one of those who was able to offer her some TV maternity know-how.

“I was quite nervous,” confessed Paula. “I did have lots of advice from fellow cast members who have had children — either on or off screen.

“I’m quite an emotional person, so I had to really try to separate how I would be in that situation and how Kylie would be.

“I had to tailor-make the birthing scene for Kylie.

“Giving birth is such an emotional process, so whatever comes to the surface in those scenes is great.

“I prepared as much as possible and did a lot of research but every birth is different.”

The Corrie week starts with Kylie doubling up in pain and collapsing on the floor.

Things happen so fast there’s no time to get to hospital, with Gail being forced to deliver the baby.

Finding out who the daddy is isn’t likely to be so speedy.

It’s been one of the most talkedabout storylines of the year.

Is the baby husband David’s (Jack P. Shepherd) or brother-inlaw Nick’s (Ben Price) after their one-night stand?

After the birth Gail urges Kylie to have a DNA test to establish the father’s identity once and for all.

“Gail is probing her to get one done for peace of mind but she doesn’t know what to do for the best,” explains super-fit Paula, who eases the stresses of long filming days with long runs.

“I think the whole reason she doesn’t want to get one done is because there’s a 50/50 chance it could be Nick’s.

“What does she do then? Kylie’s torn over it and in many ways it’s easier not to know.”

So, after the fake bump, what are real babies on set like?

“They are twins and are absolutely great,” adds Paula.

“They’re like little dolls. Jack is great with them, too.

“I think we’ll be a good family unit.”
