Two generations of TV stars? That’s magic

-

NATASHA isn’t the first of her family to become a TV star.

Her grandfather, Max Raskin, was also a screen regular.

But his is a tale of magic, tragedy . . . and an amazing discovery.

Max was a magician and had his own TV show, Magic With Max, on STV in the 1960s, as well as being the creator of a world- famous Max Raskin Trick which is in the Magic Circle handbook.

Sadly Natasha never met her illustrious grandad as he died when her father Philip was only 21.

For years Philip and his sister searched high and low to t ry to find footag e of Max in action, but to no avail.

Then, one day not long ago, Natasha was at a charity auction when an amazing coincidence occurred.

She says: “I was chatting to a guy who asked, ‘Raskin’s an unusual name – are you any relation to Max?’”

“Turns out his first job was in TV archiving. In the 1960s he archived the show celebrating the fifth anniversary of STV. “And my grandad was on it doing his trick!”

“My dad and his sister had been looking for it for 40 years, so when I gave it to them as a present it was very emotional.” A magical end to the tale, you might

say.
