Wee problem on school trip
A BUS load of 40 primary school kids bursting for the loo were turned away from a public toilet – after the attendant said they all had to pay 30p.
Baffled teachers taking the kids on a P7 summer camp attempted to reason with the jobsworth official.
But the woman attendant refused to budge – and the youngsters had to troop back on to their bus and sit crossed legged until they found another loo eight miles away.
The bizarre incident happened at picturesque Luss, on the shores of Loch Lomond where thousands of tourists stop every week.
The youngsters, from Wester Overton Primary in Strathaven, South Lanarkshire, first tried the public loos at Luss beach – but they were closed.
So their bus headed for the car park at Luss tourist information centre.
Teachers asked for the 30pa- head rule to be waived given the circumstances.
But the attendant at the loos run by Loch Lomond National Park was having none of it – and said they’d all have to pay or clear off.
The youngsters were finally able to answer the call of nature eight miles away in Tarbet, where a cafe owner let them use his loo for free.
Parent Stephen Martin, 45, whose 12-year-old daughter Charlotte was on the bus, said: “You’d have thought the attendant would bend the rules for these kids.
“They were obviously needing the loo.”
Loch Lomond National Park said the kids would have been able to use the loo for free – if they’d booked in advance.
A spokeswoman said: “For school groups who are visiting the park we have an agreement in place that if they contact us when planning their visit we can provide the group with free access to the toilets.”
