RESTAURANT REVIEW

1 LOCATION

On Dundee’s bustling Perth Road, it’s a few minutes from the main Overgate shopping centre. Perth Road has a great choice of restaurants, bars and cafes – something for everyone.

2 FIRST IMPRESSIONS

It’s lively and fun, with a mixed clientele. Think couples, students and weary workers dropping in after a hard day’s graft. We hear one group of office staff saying they’re “just having one”. They’re still there when we leave!

3 SERVICE

It’s busy, so initial service is a wee bit slow. But once we’ve placed our order, our food arrives super-fast. The staff are friendly and helpful.

4 MENU

Plenty of pub classics. If you like burgers, mac and cheese or fish and chips they’re all here. But there’s also a great selection of unusual dishes – grilled cheese with salt beef and gherkin in a sandwich, crawfish roll and open burritos. In short, there’s something for all tastes.

5 TASTE

You know that way when you make a bad choice and wish you’d got what your friends ordered? Yes, that. One of us orders chicken parmo – a crispy, crunchy chicken breast in Bechamel sauce, melted cheese with skinny fries and veg. It does what it says on the tin, but lacks something and the chicken is slightly overcooked. However, the amazing burger and crawfish roll are super-tasty.

6 PRICE

Standard pub food prices for Dundee. Most dishes are under a tenner and puddings start at £2.25 for ice cream.

7 AMBIENCE

Lively and busy. We think it’s quite noisy to begin with and ask the staff to put the music down just a touch. Ah, that’s better!

8 SOMETHING SPECIAL

Wing Wednesday! Choose as many chicken wings as you like for just 25p each – normally they’re £4.25 for 10.

9 TOILETS

Clean.

10 VERDICT

17/20. Great pub food.
