Lost pet tale has pawsitive ending

-

WHEN Freda Watson’s cat, George, sneaked out of their home in Winnipeg, Canada, 12 years ago, it appeared to be for the last time.

Because as the days, weeks, months and eventually years passed by, George never returned.

Freda thought she had lost George forever.

But last week a stray cat was found and taken to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Staff spotted a faded ID on his body but the owner no longer lived at that address.

The tenacious employees were instead able to reach the owner’s sister-in-law, who contacted Freda to tell her George was alive.

When she went to retrieve George, the loyal cat placed his paws around Freda’s neck, like a hug.

Now almost 14, George must have been well looked after by another family and Freda hopes to track them down to offer visitation rights.
