The Sunday Post (Newcastle)

Theo is just what the Dr ordered

- By Reg Moore sport@sundaypost.com

THEO won for Dr Richard Newlands at the first time of asking at Worcester last Wednesday, and there is every chance he can follow up at Uttoxeter today.

The seven-year-old was a comfortable winner at two miles in an apprentice race in midweek, and the step up by half-a-mile is no problem.

He is a past winner at the new trip on soft ground at Down Royal last year, so the rain that has been around will not be an inconvenience.

Off the same mark today, considering the ease with which he scored at Worcester, the son of Westerner is still a well-handicapped runner.

Burst Ya Bubble is in good nick for Seamus Mullins. Conditions are in his favour in the novice hurdle after his victory in a course maiden.

The selection was a fourlength winner from Lerichi Belle almost a month ago, and should be ready for today’s test after a nice break.

Before that, in November, he ran really well at Ascot behind highly- rated trio Thomas Campbell, Criq Rock and Resolution Bay.

Back To Balloo is one of many runners at Cartmel who are also running quickly under a penalty. And no wonder, after a 14- length romp last time.

That was his second win, along with two second placings, in his last four outings and he is still well treated on Irish form, as well as his amateur’s 7lb claim
