Now that’s what I call a music fest!

THOUSANDS of music fans have been shaking their deely boppers to the sounds of yesteryear at the Rewind Festival.

Neon leg warmers and fancy dress abounded despite drizzly cloud on a dreich day at Scone Palace in Perthshire.

Yesterday’s line- up was headlined by The Human League, while the likes of Level 42, Nik Kershaw, Go West, The Real Thing, T’Pau and The Undertones all turned back the clock in style. Scott Craig, 50, of Dumfries, arrived at the retro music festival dressed as wrestler Big Daddy.

He said: “I love Rewind. The atmosphere is great.”

Colette and Stephen Wilkinson, from Hamilton, and Geraldine and Benny McManus, of Coatbridge, donned fancy dress inspired by Grease.

Geraldine said: “People aren’t letting the drizzly weather spoil their enjoyment of the day.

“Everyone just wants to have a good time and enjoy music from one of the best periods ever.”

That sentiment was endorsed by music teacher Garry Lomond, 47, from Partick, Glasgow.

He said: “The ’ 80s was such a great decade for music, so it’s fantastic there’s an entire festival for people my age to celebrate that.

“We don’t want to stand in a field listening to repetitive dance music or today’s rubbishy songs. We want to hear proper music.”

Highlights included a guest appearance from Simple Minds frontman Jim Kerr ,58. The Glaswegian sang his group’s 1983 hit Waterfront with The Trevor Horn Band.

Trevor said: “We were going to do Belfast Child but thought Waterfront was better for Scotland.”

Chesney Hawkes, now 45, raised one of the biggest cheers when he launched into his No 1, The One And Only.

“I love this festival,” he said. “I had lunch with Go West and saw Nick Heyward. It’s always great to catch up.”
