McCann’s fury at ‘disrespectful’ Dundee

-

DESPITE dominating possession, Dundee looked anything but convincing against a well-organised Buckie side.

Manager Neil McCann was furious afterwards.

“That was terrible. It just wasn’t good enough,” he fumed. “We were poor, very poor.

“This is a wake-up call. We can’t afford to stroll around and think we can win because we are a Premiership team.

“That is disrespect to the opposition. Our attitude just wasn’t there and this is just not acceptable.

“The players already know that because I’ve just told them.”

McCann revealed his players would be called in to training today, despite being due a day off.

The Dundee boss did praise the performance of young central defender Kerr Waddell.

“I thought he was fantastic,” added McCann.

When Faissal El Bakhtaoui opened ths scoring in the 22nd minute, little did anyone think it would take another 63 minutes for Dundee to score again.

In fact if Buckie striker Steven Ross hadn’t missed an open goal midway through the second half, who knows what the outcome would have been.

El Bakhtaoui took advantage of Buckie’s failure to clear a corner and he swivelled before striking the ball past Danny Bell from 20 yards.

Sofien Moussa made sure of the points five minutes from the end. Bell could only parry a Scott Allan shot and Moussa was on hand to stroke home the loose ball.

In between Bell produced a breathtaking performance saving well from El Bakhtaoui (twice), Moussa (twice), Paul McGowan, Roarie Deacon and Kevin Holt.
