Still Game still exciting for Boabby the Barman

AS filming begins on a new series of Scotland’s bestloved sitcom, it’s not just the fans who face an anxious wait to find out what lies in store.

For one of the stars of has revealed that tearing open the envelope containing the new scripts is like finding out your exam results.

Gavin Mitchell, who plays Boabby the Barman, said the latest script was only delivered by courier to his house last week – and filming begins tomorrow.

Gavin, 52, said : “It’s cloak and dagger because everything is top secret.

“I know nothing about the storyline until I open the envelope.

“It’s kind of weird because you never know what wee journey you will go on and you kind of open it with excitement and trepidatio­n.”

Gavin and his Still Game co- stars have been heavily nominated at this year’s Scottish Comedy Awards which take place in Edinburgh’s Le Monde hotel on August 1.

He said: “It’s smashing because we are in highly esteemed company. ”

Gavin added :“It’ s fantastic that Jane McCarry ( Isa) and Ford Kiernan ( Jack) are also up for best actress and actor, too.

Show co- creator Greg Hemphill, who plays Victor, joked online: “We start filming the new series of Still Game on Monday. If you see us out and about, shout‘ Two pints, p***k !’ at us.”
