LEAGUE 1 ROUND-UP

-

BLACKBURN are still pointless and now in the relegation zone after they were beaten 3-1 by Doncaster.

Tony Mowbray’s men were the architects of their own downfall, gifting John Marquis an opener, conceding a second from the spot, via James Coppinger, and a calamitous goalkeeping error resulted in a third for Alfie May after David Raya inexplicably headed a long ball straight to him.

A consolation goal for Dominic Samuel couldn’t lift the home side’s spirits.

A second-half goal from substitute Devante Cole helped Fleetwood make it two wins out of two as they claimed a 1-0 victory over Northampton at Sixfields.

The game appeared to be drifting towards a goalless draw when a fine finish from Cole sent the three points Fleetwood’s way and condemned Northampton to a second straight defeat.

Sean Longstaff’s early strike was enough to secure newly-promoted Blackpool their first League One victory with a 1-0 win over MK Dons.

The game was played with Blackpool Air Show taking place in the skies above Bloomfield Road and the hosts were flying high after five minutes when on-loan Newcastle midfielder Longstaff picked the ball up 15 yards out and rifled a shot into the far corner, which proved to be the winner.

Scunthorpe sub Duane Holmes came off the bench to deny Rochdale a victory, cancelling out Steven Davies’ 55th-minute opener in the 1-1 draw at Spotland.

There was heartache for Oldham as they were stung by Erhun Oztumer’s 90th-minute goal as hosts Walsall overturned a 1-0 deficit to win 2-1.

Ryan McLaughlin gave Oldham a first-half lead, but Joe Edwards and Oztumer completed a Saddlers fightback.
