Tearful Taylor can now move on from ordeal
IT’S a case that’s been rumbling on for a while – and the reason why I was in Denver, Colorado last week.
Pop princess Taylor Swift had sued a DJ whom she said had groped her at a ‘meet and greet’ in 2013.
She didn’t want to bring a court case but this guy, David Mueller, had sued the megastar because he’d been fired.
Taylor had asked for only a dollar in damages.
And that’s what she got when she finally won last week.
The singer was in tears on the final day of the case and, when the verdict in her favour came, she hugged her mum and her legal team.
She then turned to the jury and mouthed the words “thank you” to them for their verdict.
She has now promised to donate to organisations which help sexual assault victims.
A victory for Taylor, in the end – and I’m sure she’ll want to move on from this whole episode.
Now, he may have been catapulted to fame by the Star Wars movies but John Boyega still shops at his local supermarket where he sometimes gets recognised – and sometimes doesn’t. I popped along to a screening of Detroit, featuring his great performance as a security guard caught up in a brutal police interrogation.
“One movie can’t change your life to the point where you can’t walk the streets,” he says of his role as Finn in The Force Awakens.
Detroit is hotly tipped to win some serious awards.
It is set against the backdrop of the 1967 riots in the Motor City and examines the shootings of three unarmed black men in the Algiers Motel.
Three white police officers were accused of killing the men and of brutalising several guests.
John is fantastic in the movie, and he definitely seems to have his head screwed on the right way.
He has taken the cheque he got for starring in the Star Wars franchise and invested it in his own company, Upperroom Entertainment.
Hollywood is beating down his door but he’s not going to wait for roles to come to him.
He is already producing the forthcoming science fiction blockbuster Pacific Rim: Uprising.
