Restaurant REVIEW

scotts, Largs Yacht haven

-

1 LOCATION

In the middle of Largs’ marina, which is a laid-back 25-minute walk from the town centre or a short drive along the coastline.

2 FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Spotless and stylish. There are floor-to-ceiling windows offering plenty of light and good views, as well as a well-stocked bar area.

3 SERVICE

From the moment we arrive, the waiting staff are attentive and serve with a smile.

4 MENU

We’ve worked up an appetite after walking out from town and we’re spoiled for choice with the extensive menu, and they also have a separate vegetarian and vegan menu offering even more options.

5 TASTE

We each have a starter portion of vegetable tempura, which is just beautiful. Lightly battered and with just the right amount of crunch to the veg, it’s complemented by the tasty dips. It gets even better with the main courses. The honey soy fried rice is full of flavour, while the vegetable gnocchi is just as good – and neither scrimp on portion size.

6 PRICE

Fairly typical prices, with the mains coming in at the £10-15 mark, although the seafood is dearer.

7 AMBIENCE

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon, so we decided to sit outside on the terrace – which, thanks to being heated and covered, is an option throughout the year. It’s relaxed and comfortable, just how Sunday afternoons should be – and inside seems to be much the same vibe.

8 SOMETHING SPECIAL

As well as the outside terrace and speciality menus, there is a wide range of seafood choices, as you might expect from the location. And the vast choice of desserts are all made in their own bakehouse. We also discovered the company behind Scotts has several more venues throughout Ayrshire – if they are as good as this then they are worth checking out.

9 TOILETS

Bright, clean and modern.

10 VERDICT

A food haven at Largs Yacht Haven. 17/20
