VINCENT KOMPANY has revealed that he’s made himself two promises – one on his Manchester City future, the other on what he will do when he eventually hangs up his boots.

The City skipper, who will lead his Belgium team in today’s World Cup qualifier against Greece, has just entered the penultimate year of his contract at the Etihad.

But he has vowed to put his own future on the back burner to focus all his efforts on his on- field contribution towards City sweeping up the silverware in the final two seasons of his deal.

“I’ve given myself the obligation to not think about anything regarding contracts until my contract is actually up,” he says.

“I’m really easy and relaxed in my relationship with the club. It’s that good there won’t be any panic on their side or my side.

“Let’s get the most out ofof these two years with City – andnd at international level – and let’s see where we are at. Noo stress!”

Komp any recently stated that he “will always be a City player”, referring to the fact he’s gained iconic status as the sole survivor from the days before the Abu Dhabi money came into the club.

It’s likely that he will sign a final contract to take him throughh untilil theh end of his playing career.

After that he intends to stay within the game, though as yet he hasn’t decided in what capacity.

“It’s 100% certain I will remain in football,” he confirms. “It’s my passion “It’s likel you studying to be a doctor andd doing all the exams, then when you’re 32 stating that you’re not going to be a doctor any more.

“I have lived this game since I was six years old, so I don’t see a reason why I

should throw all that experience away all of a sudden.

“I already have good contact with the younger people at City. I love going into the academy and bringing across my experience and how I see certain things.

“I have learned from the best – from their mistakes as well as my own – and, hopefully, I will benefit because of that.”
