COCKTAILS & STEAKS, UDDINGSTON

-

1 LOCATION

A new addition in the heart of the Lanarkshire town on Main Street. Seconds from the train station and easily reachable from Glasgow by car, bus or train.

2 FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Contemporary at its best, this is one buzzing butchershop, even on a weekday night. There’s lots of exposed brickwork, bare metal, fancy lighting and worn-looking, comfy leather – very cool, yet homely.

3 SERVICE

Prompt and with a smile, the front of house and waitresses catered for our every whim. We weren’t rushed, despite being one of the last remaining tables before closing.

4 MENU

Plenty of choices for steaks and cocktails, just as the name would suggest, but there’s lots more on offer, including fish, chicken, risotto and salads. The endless list of sides, from bone marrow chips to beer-battered onion rings will leave you spoilt for choice. You can even opt for a range of special cuts, from Tomahawk to Chateaubriand.

5 TASTE

Fantastic. Steaks are cooked on a Josper grill which makes the meat melt in the mouth. The pepper sauce has an unexpected kick to it and the hand-cut chips are superb.

6 PRICE

Sauces and mash/hand-cut chips come included in the price of the steak, which was a nice surprise when the bill arrived. It’s not cheap, we paid £75 for two including drinks. But the market menu at £13.95 for two courses before 5pm on weekdays is amazing value.

7 AMBIENCE

Calm, comfortable and relaxed.

8 SOMETHING SPECIAL

Never before have I been asked in a restaurant to choose my steak knife. The waitress brings a board to the table brimming with shiny sharp blades. It’s a nice touch. There’s a superb secret butcher’s sauce too.

9 TOILETS

Pristine clean – and pretty trendy too.

10 VERDICT

A great place to visit, especially if you love cocktails and steaks! 17/20
