They will be VIP guests at the wedding of the year.

And Susan Hey and daughter Lily could not be more excited as they get ready for the marriage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Saturday.

Lily, 11, and her gran, Liz Bow, 68, were invited for their work to raise funds in memory of Lily’s wee brother Hamish, who died from cancer, age eight.

Susan and husband Sam, both 39, will accompany them as guests to the ceremony at Windsor Castle.

Susan, who is fighting her own battle against incurable breast cancer, says their outfits will pay tribute to Hamish, who will be with them in spirit.

“We were absolutely thrilled to be invited to Harry and Meghan’s wedding,” said Susan from Nairn.

“We have been through so much with Hamish’s cancer, and now mine. Being invited to the royal wedding has been a blessing. It will be a beautiful family outing.

“Mum, Lily and I will be wearing our precious necklaces, adorned with H, in memory of Harry.

“In a way, it will be like taking him with us to the wedding.

“Our dresses will all incorporate a lovely rainbow emblem.

“It means so much to us because there was a rainbow in the sky on the day of Hamish’s funeral.”

The family will be among 1,200 members of the public invited into the grounds of Windsor Castle to watch the arrivals of the bride and groom and their guests at St George’s Chapel.

They will see the newlyweds start their carriage procession through Windsor.
