Pro-lifers go to court

The Sunday Post (Newcastle) - - NEWS -

Pro-life campaigners are going to court in an attempt to overturn a Scottish Government policy allowing women to take abortion medication at home.

The two-day hearing will be held at the Court of Session in Edinburgh, starting tomorrow, in front of Lady Wise. The case has been launched by the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (Scotland).

Campaigners are seeking a Judicial Review of plans presented by Scotland’s chief medical officer Dr Catherine Calderwood after abortion responsibilities were devolved to the Scottish Parliament in 2016.

They oppose plans to allow women seeking an abortion in the first nine weeks of pregnancy to take the second of two necessary medications at home instead of at a NHS outpatient clinic.
