Nu­clear site to be dis­man­tled

North Korea is to be­gin dis­man­tling its nu­clear test sure within the next two weeks, ac­cord­ing to state me­dia.

A cer­e­mony to mark the de­struc­tion of the site will take place be­tween May 23 and 25 with the Korean Cen­tral News Agency re­port­ing that for­eign jour­nal­ists in­clud­ing those from the UK and Rus­sia will be in­vited to ob­serve.

Tun­nels at the test­ing ground in the north­east of the coun­try will be de­stroyed by ex­plo­sion, with ob­ser­va­tion and re­search fa­cil­i­ties also to be re­moved, along with ground-based guard units.

Kim Jong-un an­nounced plans to shut the site be­fore his his­toric sum­mit with South Korean leader Moon Jae-in last month.
