Two taken to hospi­tal af­ter crash

Two peo­ple were taken to hospi­tal af­ter two ve­hi­cles crashed on a ru­ral road.

A car and an­other car tow­ing a car­a­van col­lided on the A737 at Lochwin­noch, Ren­frew­shire, yes­ter­day morn­ing around 11am.

Emer­gency ser­vices were called and two peo­ple were taken to the Royal Alexan­dra Hospi­tal in Pais­ley to be checked over.

The road was closed in both di­rec­tions as the car­riage­way was cleared of de­bris.

Diver­sions were put in place and driv­ers were warned to ex­pect de­lays.

Mean­while, on Fri­day night, a su­per­mar­ket was evac­u­ated over a sus­pected chem­i­cal in­ci­dent.

Three fire en­gines and a spe­cial­ist chem­i­cal unit ar­rived at the Tesco store on Bon­nyrigg Road in Dalkeith around 9pm on Fri­day.

Staff and cus­tomers had to be evac­u­ated be­fore fire crews wear­ing spe­cial­ist breath­ing gear were de­ployed in­side.

It was later con­firmed that no sub­stances were found.
