Lib Dems’ drug claim

The Sunday Post (Newcastle) - - NEWS -

Just 31 of the 4,440 Scots convicted of drug possession last year were offered support to help them address their problem.

Figures from the Lib Dems show just 31 drug treatment orders – a community-based sentence aimed at problem drug users – were issued for those caught with drugs for personal use.

Lib Dem MSP Liam McArthur said: “With drugrelated deaths at a record high, it is time to recognise that the ‘war on drugs’ is a failure.”
