Legal challenge to decision to drop Lisa murder probe

-

The ex-partner of missing mum Lisa Brown is to fight a Spanish judge’s decision to halt her murder probe.

Lisa, 32, went missing while living in Spain in 2015, but her body has never been found and it is believed she was killed.

Last month, suspect Simon Corner was held on a European Arrest Warrant at Heathrow Airport as he got off a flight from South America.

But soon afterwards, a Spanish judge shelved the investigation into the disappearance of Lisa, saying there was a “lack of concrete proof” towards Corner’s involvement.

Now, Tony Tomillero, the father of Lisa’s 11-year-old son, Marco, has instructed his lawyer to appeal the shock decision on the long-running probe.

Javier Garcia Ramila will now be asked to accept the appeal and make Simon Corner his prime suspect once again.

Tony’s lawyer has also said she wants Mr Corner and five other people arrested to face formal charges and prosecution if the appeal is accepted.

The development opens another period of uncertainty around the judicial investigation.

Mr Corner, who had to be hauled back to Spain twice on European Arrest Warrants to face court quizzes about Lisa’s disappearance, has been told he is free to leave Spain while the appeal is decided.

Mother-of-one Lisa is originally from Alexandria.
