THE GOVERNMENT SAID
The Minister for Transport and the Islands has committed to write to Parliament in the first instance once there is confidence in the actual final costs – which we expect to have shortly.
Increases are to be expected, particularly given the welldocumented weaknesses in previous Network Rail project management and forecasting. Despite this we fully expect our key rail projects to come in within the Control Period 5 budget.
The projects remain affordable and deliverable, unlike elsewhere in the UK, as we continue to build the best railway Scotland has ever had
