Probe over mystery body find
A house close to where a woman’s body was found came under intense police scrutiny yesterday.
The grim discovery of her body, in a quiet country lane between Auchterarder and Dunning, Perthshire, has left the tight-knit community in shock.
Specialist police officers from the Major Investigation Team carried out door-todoor interviews to piece together the last hours of the woman who, according to locals, had only recently moved into the area.
The B8062 road where the woman’s body was found around noon on Thursday, in a wooded area close to the roadside, remained closed off as police continue to investigate.
Townsfolk say the woman had only been in the area for a few months with one person saying: “I knew her to say hello, but she kept to herself.”
Last night, Detective Superintendent Jim Smith appealed to those who saw anything suspicious on the road in the days leading up to the discovery.
He said: “No matter how insignificant the information you have it may prove vital.”
