What are the symptoms of a panic attack, and how do I know if I’m having one? A panic attack includes shortness of breath or fast breathing, a racing heart, chest discomfort, tremor, sweating, nausea, butterflies in the stomach, dizzy or light headedness and numbness or pins and needles. Often people feel they have lost control of their feelings or body as well. It is important to remember that you can have some of these symptoms without others. There is good information and self-help resources on the website called Mood Juice for helping people deal with panic attacks. I have a sore back and side after I drink alcohol. Could this be a symptom of something? This may be related to your stomach. Conditions such as gastritis, which is inflammation of the stomach lining, and stomach ulcers are often aggravated by alcohol. It would be sensible to reduce your alcohol intake or completely stop for a period of time. Over the counter indigestion remedies may be helpful. If the symptoms continue I would suggest seeing aGP. I’ve got a hiatus hernia – will I be able to drink alcohol like whisky or brandy ever again? It is possible to drink alcohol when you have a hiatus hernia including spirits. However, it is one of the main lifestyle factors that may aggravate the symptoms. Anything that aggravates indigestion or heartburn may well cause increased symptoms when you have a hiatus hernia. This also includes spicy foods, acidic foods, fizzy drinks, smoking and obesity.
