Teach young stars how to show respect

-

England football star Dele Alli has been in the news for the wrong reasons after being filmed by a bystander at 5am on Monday arguing with hotel staff over their apparent refusal to upgrade him to the penthouse suite in a plush hotel in Mayfair.

Filming someone on your mobile and sharing it online is an invasion of privacy whatever you think about the entitlement of someone looking for an upgrade, but that is the reality of life in the public eye. It means anyone in it needs to be careful of what, when and how they say things.

For those working with talented young athletes, as well as helping them develop the skills they need to play their sport, there is also a need to educate them in the life and business of it so they know what they’re getting into.

So I have sympathy on one hand and on the other, I never like a sense of entitlement... Seeing the devastation caused by the wildfires in California reminded me just how quickly fires can start and spread.

The horror of Grenfell raised awareness of the damage domestic fires can do. So did you know that The Scottish

Fire and Rescue Service will come out to do a free safety check in your home and install alarms for free if necessary? Yes, it’s annoying when burned toast sets off a fire alarm, but the reality is you’re better safe than sorry.
