A masterpiece in your pocket
The Turner Prize has always been a bit of an eyebrow raiser, with past winners including Tracey Emin’s unmade bed, and the empty room where the lights went on and off.
When I heard Scots artist Charlotte Prodger won this year, I watched her short film and found it interesting.
The narrative was a bit wacky, but I liked how she wove her own story and her experiences around gender and sexuality into the film.
It was shot on an iPhone and it really shows that you can take incredible footage on mobiles these days.
Maybe it’s the unusualness of her film that gets you thinking, but there’s no stopping the rest of us using our phones to create our own masterpieces.
