GREEKS TARGET BOYATA Olympiacos ready to swoop for Celts star

Travis frontman Fran Healy made a surprise appearance at Aberdeen Music Hall’s reopening yesterday after a £9 million refurbishment of the building.

Fran joined Aberdeen Music Hall’s community choir to perform one of his band’s biggest hits, Sing, and he says they were amazing.

He had rehearsed with the choir the previous night, but they only went through the song twice together.

Fran said: “They hit the ground running, they were fantastic.

“While it’s a simple song, it can be tricky to play because of the rhythm, but they got it perfectly.”

His connection to Aberdeen Music Hall goes back more than 26 years when the band first performed there as students, and they have played there several times since, most recently in 2013.

He added: “This was an important day, the venue’s been turned into this very special building now, not just for music but there are community and event spaces.

“The refurbishment has been done very cleverly. It’s spectacular, very, very impressive.

“I didn’t expect it to be so exhaustively renovated, there’s not an inch of the building that’s not been tidied up and made better.

“Aberdeen deserves a good, solid, modern venue and now they have it.”
