LOCKERBIE 21.12.88

-

It was a flight full of hope as many of the passengers looked forward to Christmas, heading home to be reunited with their families at the happiest time of the year. On board Pan Am Flght 103 were professors and puppeteers, soldiers, students and bankers, babies and diplomats, engineers and teachers. They were not to see their families again after a bomb destroyed the plane above Lockerbie. All 243 passengers and 16 crew were killed along with 11 residents in the town below. Today, after all

that has been said and written about the atrocity, all the tears wept, and words written, all the books and articles, the theories and conspiracies, the legal proceedings and appeals, we remember the names of every victim and the lives lost on what, 30 years on, remains one of Scotland’s – and the world’s – darkest nights.
