OAP care criticised
The Outer Hebrides’ main hospital has been rapped over its care of elderly patients.
Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway has been told by inspectors to improve in 17 areas. Healthcare Improvement Scotland has published a report following an unannounced visit to the hospital.
The inspection took place between September 17 and 19 and, as a result of patient safety concerns, a further unannounced follow-up visit took place from October 29 to 31.
A spokesperson for NHS Western Isles said the board appreciated the report and welcomed the opportunity to review and improve processes and procedures at the hospital.
