Being a pro doesn’t make you immune

The Celtic and Scotland striker has been given leave by his club to rest up for an indefinite period while he sorts out his personal problems.
That is a good thing. He should be given every help to get better, as soon as possible.
I know there will be people who have little sympathy, on account of the advantages his well-paid job gives him in life over others not blessed with his sporting talent.
But I was a professional footballer myself for long enough, and I can testify that you often don’t know the issues going on with people.
Admitting there is a problem, however, is the first step to a happier future.
