SQUASH

-

Scottish No. 1 Lisa Aitken edged closer to her fourth PSA title after storming through to today’s Italian International final in Riccione.

The 28-year-old left-hander is the top seed this week and made a blistering start against Dutch fourth seed Tessa ter Sluis.

Aitken led 8-1 and quickly took the opening game before adding the next two to complete an emphatic 11-4, 11-8, 11-9 victory.

She has yet to drop a game in the tournament and will now face either English third-seed Kace Bartley or Swiss sixth-seed Cindy Merlo in this afternoon’s final.

“So far, so good. Nobody’s kept me on court for more than 25 minutes this week – they’ve all been nice quick matches,” said Aitken.

“The final will be another level up again, whoever I’m playing. But I’ve got my own things that I’m trying to do on court, and that will be my focus in the final.”
