The game kicked off in amid horrible conditions. Queens almost took the lead when Lee Robinson cleared just outside his area and the ball fell for Adam Frizzell who lofted it from the halfway mark to see it go just outside the post.

But at the other end it was Queens keeper Alan Martin who prevented Joe Thomson giving the Pars the breakthrough as he tipped his shot over the top.

That signalled a series of corners for Dunfermline and El Bakhtaoui went close with a drive which was just off target.

Then Thomson saw a shot go just over the top.

The Dumfries keeper came to his side’s rescue again when he stopped a drive from Kallum Higginbotham.

Queens were not without a threat, and Callum Semple just failed to reach a free kick from Josh Todd which had caught out the visiting defenders.

Lyndon Dykes had a chance for the Dumfries side just after the break but his 20-yard drive went round the outside of the post.

At the other end, Higginbotham set up Thomson with a free kick along the edge of the box but the finish was well wide.
